Cherepanov And Tonight

Still in a state of shock with Cherepanov’s death I came across one of the saddest things I have read in a long time. Alexei started up his own blog on October 9th, four days before his death, and talked about how he expected to keep up this scoring streak and be the best player at the juniors. You can link to that and other stories about the tragedy here. You can also read about how tragic it was for Jagr, who really took Cherepanov under his wing, and was there for his final moments.

On a happier (possibly) note tonight Tom Renney has decided to go with Prucha on the third line with Callahan and Korpikoski. Steve Zippay says that this might be a showcase for a possible trade, which at this point I won’t rule out. I will on the other hand say that he has to start showing something, because he was invisible in the two games in Prague. The Sabers looked really good against the Islanders two days ago, although it was the Islanders and DP wasn’t playing, but the Sabers are nothing to scoff at. Should be an interesting game, Lundqvist looks to be getting the start, all other lines remain unchanged. Expect to see a tough and gritty game from both sides. MSG should be packed. More tonight.
